Can someone help me identify what the "VOC" on the reverse signifies on this silver rider?

Isn't that some Dutch coin? Maybe VOC represents some Dutch colony or something... Not too sure though...

VOC is Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie: The Dutch United East India Company.

Also, the arms below the knight are for the province of Friesland.
And that about exhausts my knowledge for this coin!

It's not mine. Its a coin lot at Baldwins's auction.
It is a Dutch Colonies Silver Rider 1738, Westfriesland but I'm unfamilar with the VOC. Must be special because estimated price is 350 pounds!!!

I'll bet it goes closer to 500 pounds - first one I've ever actually seen outside of a catalog !!
