Randy Johnson is 5-0 against the Red Sox this year

"One of those guys is Johnson, whose arrival via free agency made the New York rotation the deepest Torre has had as Yankees manager. But that was before Yankees starters began dropping like they had heat stroke. Through it all, the 42-year-old Johnson was the only one who never spent time on the disabled list. He finished the regular season with a 17-8 record. Five of those victories came against the Red Sox."

Yankees' winning formula: Hard work, team work and $208 Million. LOL

  • Then the percentages for him to win are slowly declining, and unfortunatley end up blowing a more important game.

IF the Red Sox get to they playoffs, I don't think they will make it past the ALDS so Randy would not face them again.

Ok, that makes sense then, I haven't actually looked to see how they are standing as to who would end up playing who yet.

Good for him. Otherwise, he would have been a relative bust. Fair numbers.....but for the bucks?

Didn't he give up more HR's this year than any year in his career? 32-33, something like that...one of the highest totals in the AL. And, consistency wasn't his strong point this season.

Yes, Randy Johnson gave up a lot of Home Runs this year, but several of them like today came with no one on base. This is the most Home Runs he gave up in a season but if you look at his career stats, which surprised me, he had pockets of years where he gave up a lot of home Runs but still had a low ERA.

    1990 - 26 Homers, 3.65 ERA
    1999 - 30 Homers, 2.48 ERA
    2002 - 26 Homers, 2.32 ERA

Randy had several other years where he gave up more than 20 Home Runs. What this tells me, like I said previously, is that Johnson doesn't give up many Home Runs when men are on base.

<<And, consistency wasn't his strong point this season.>>

True at the beginning of the season, BUT consistent as hell the last 1 1/2 months. In September he is something like 6-1 with a 1.45 ERA. His lifetime September record is something like 40+ and 4. I don't remember the exact numbers but I was stunned when I heard them. This is why the Yankees wanted him so badly.

typos. It would be good if the editor had a spell checker.
