  • Okay with the injuns loss... errr... choke, the Yankees have won the East by default.

Does anyone know if the Yankees are going to play starters tomorrow?

The Yankees have won the East by default, backing in, etc. are all terms that are bull chit. The Yankees clinched it and that is it. Did the Red Sox get lucky and back in last year? LOL

Tell yourself that all you want spammy....but I'd be disturbed that 'your' team set a record in payroll spending this year, and squeaked in on the next to last day of the regular season.

Red Sox didn't get lucky, they won 4 straight over the biggest CHOKE ever in sports history, and kicked the yankees to the curb where they belonged....or did you conveniently forget that fact?
  • Fair enough... truthfully I wanted to see another game if their records were identical at the season's end. But the Yankees won the season series.

Now back to the question, do the Yankees play their starters tomorrow?

cornholio, I had a discussion with thegemmintman earlier in the day in another thread:

I stand by my prediction. I just consulted my crystal ball.....ARod will finish with at least 50 Home Runs and send the Red Sox to a playoff game with the Indians if they win tomorrow.

I doubt Torre is going to play the regulars for more than a few innings if at all. Why risk the injuries?

    I disagree because:

    (1) The Yankees want to tire the Red Sox and Indians out further.

    (2) Players like Jeter, ARod, and Sheffield will want to play and consider it an obligation

    (3) Further revenge on the Red Sox

    (4) Some players on the Yankees will want to shut Catsup Sock up

Torre doesn't think/operate that way. Some of the regulars may see some time, but only a couple of them will last the game. I'm not convinced Arod will be one of them. We'll see.

I'm a little surprised at all the champagne and celebration by the Yankees today - I guess this little victory was enough for you guys? Were "even" now? You didn't knock the Sox out of the playoffs, in fact, by winning the division (and I use the term winning loosely, especially if the Sox and Yanks wind up with identical records after tommorrow) the Yanks draw the Angels in the first round - while the Red Sox would draw the White Sox. Guess which team will have an easier first round.

There's a lot of baseball left to be played this season - today wasn't all that big a deal.

Not enough yet but sweet. The job is not done yet.

Might mean Home Field Advantage. The Yankees haven't knocked the Red Sox out of the playoffs but if they beat them tomorrow and the Indians win they will be forced by the Yankees to play yet another game and go to a one game playoff.

Maybe not many more games for the Red Sox. It all depends what the Yankees and Cleveland do tomorow

A champion prospect should not concern themselves on who they are gong to play because they are expected to beat the very tough teams. The last series against the Angels the Yankees did very well. Are you afraid of the Red Sox to play the best in the AL? They might be playing them now.

Not afraid of it, and no - the Yanks are not better than the Angels. I would say the Angels have the best pitching, top to bottom, in the AL - and they will be a tough out in the playoffs no matter who plays them.
