Nice looking coin! image Unfortunately I can't help on pricing. But we do have a few ancient experts that check in every now and then who should be able to help image

Looks like the Sear number is 3536, describes as:
Obv: HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, Lauriate head of hadrian right.
Rev: ROMA FELIX, Roma seated (1) on curule chair holding branch and spear.
    Struck in Rome, AD 138.

Value (as of 2002 publication date) is $80 in VF and $240 in EF. Yours is probably somewhere between VF and EF according to the book's standards.

    Hope this helps!

I just bought the Sears books last week, this was my first "real world" chance to attribute something. I also have an interest in ancients but no real knowledge so the books are probably the right place to start.

The most recent realization I could find for this type in a similar grade was a 2002 sale at $313 before buyer's fees. Slightly better grade, but the market on all ancients and Hadrian especially has moved up since then. Hadrian's stuff has been especially popular since late 2004 and prices have been moving up. I would imagine this coin should sell for $300.00+ with no trouble nowadays.

  • I should think Hadrian coins are fairly popular in the UK.
