Home Metal Detecting

Did some Site Searching This Morning (lots of Pics)

I had to go and see a ranch I'm insuring up in the town of Caliente, Calif. The route from my house to there (75 miles) follows the route of the old Butterfield Stagecoach from the late 1800's. I Didn't have a chance to get the detector out of the trunk since I was pressed for time to get back to see my son's soccer game. I did however, scout out some potential sites to hunt, assuming I am able to find out who the owner's of these properties are and then get their permission.

I am envious DR!! I wish that I lived out west to search some of those sites. I would definately try the outskirts first being that those places have probably been combed over before. That is just where I would start of course. You may just find that it is virgin territory though!! Good luck. -Dan
  • Nice pics Danny! I hope you can get into a few of those spots.
Analog Rules! Knobs and Switches are cool!

  • Some good looking spots Danny. Is that just one area, or spread out over your trip?

It is spread out over the entire length of the trip. The last few pics are about two miles from my home. It is the old Tropico Gold Mine. The whole site is barbed wire fenced and is owned by an absentee owner. They primarily rent it out to film companies who need a western ghost town look. All the buildings are original though and not built as sets.
