Credit Where Credit is Due

Yes, I know they have a $200+ million payroll and were expected to win everything in sight this year, but I STILL must give the Yankee organization alot of credit this year. That pitching staff they spent a fortune on (poorly spent, as far as I'm concerned) was totally decimated for most of the season. Any other team who had gone through that would never have survived to take the division. 200 Million or not, I give this team alot of credit!

Can't stand 'em, but I too will give them credit for eight straight division titles. And what fan wouldn't want an owner with a win-at-any-cost attitude?

    How very true.

All I heard on this board the entire summer was how the Yankees were picking up other teams' trash.

Well let me see: Wang came from the Yankees Farm System (the Yankees Farmless Farm System) who many on this board said they did not have (see Cano also), Small was a Minor League reject who was taught by fomer Sinker Ball pitcher and now pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre how to grip the Sinker differently in Spring Training (give Mel a helluva lot of credit) and Chacon who has been simply marvelous since coming over from Colorodo and still is relatively young at age 28.

10 consecutive playoff appearances for Joe Torre, 11th consecutive for the Yankees.

Uh, actually, someone would make a passing comment and then you would blow it WAY out of proportion.

  • Love em or hate em, I'll give em credit, they made it to the top again.image

But they still have a long ways to go, and if anythings been proved in the past, it isn't going to be easy on them. Every team wants to be the ones who beat the Yankees, and the majority of the world wants to see it too.

Did spammy give up on this alt ID already?

    Wow that was fast!
  • ElGrande hasn't editted his post yet so I'm not completely sold.
  • Just to set your mind at ease, I am new to this board and I have never had spammy as an ID, but if you want to continue to think that I am this person, you go right ahead.

ElGrande - anyone who has as their icon the back of a Franklin Half - with the picture of the Liberty Bell which of course is located in Philadelphia and used to ring when Philadelphia was the nation's capitol...is ok in my book.

The capitol of the United States used to be Philadelphia. Why the capitol was moved to Washington DC, I'll never know? I think there ought to be an investigation into this. Perhaps we can get the capitol of the United States moved back to Philly because after all Philly is becoming the capitol of sports!
  • Whoa! Just one gosh darned minute here. You say the capitol was moved to Washington, D.C.???? When did THAT happen? I'm assuming here that this hasn't ACTUALLY happened yet, but is only in discussion in Congress. Rumors can be devastating. I suppose next you are going to tell me Lou Pinella won't be back as Tampa's manager next year.
