1955 proof sets

I have 3 55 proof sets that I just pulled out of the closet.I have not looked at these for about 8 yrs but I notice all the 50 cent pcs are purple is this common w/box sets?Thanks for any feedback.They are still in the original box.

    Very normal toning for a 1955 Boxed set. It's the plastic. Smam plastic as late 1954 sets (early 54 sets had the cello similar to the 50-53 sets).

    DO NOT TRY TO DIP THIS OFF...IT WILL NOT WORK.

    I think htis is the main reason the box sets sell for a significant discount to the flat pack sets. flat pack sets always look nice, and do not tone up like the boxed sets.

    light purple when the new baby comes and I have to turn my computer room into a bedroom I will be in the cellar so I will makeup a nice photo setup to show some of my better coins thanks also I would NEVER dip a coin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Not sure what happened to your sets but that note made me go look at some of my sets from way back there and none of them are discolored in any way. Maybe it's because I've had them all wrapped in plastic bags like sandwich bags all these years. No air, light, wind, rain, snow or fingerprints on any of them yet.
