Congratulations to PCM2 for #1 Type Set in Copper, Silver, Nickel

PCM2 has leap-frogged over former #1 Registry Type Set owned by Kevin Michaels to recapture the crown after 2 years of dominence by Michaels, who achieved top set in 2004 and 2005. Michaels needs a 1792 Half Disme to achieve 100% completeness in the set and he had a shot at a VF20 I found for him about 3 years ago but he said it was too pricey for him at the time. Now, prices for these hald dismes have soared out of sight for most collectors except for the most afluent.

The nice thing about the Michaels set is that he has photos posted of the coins I sold him. Wish more would post photos so others could enjoy the sets as well. I know many don't want others to know the composition of their sets, but most of my customers in the Registry don't seem to care about that level of secrecy.

I doubt it's all unc except for 1800/1814 to date. Those early ones are impossible to get unc and if he had things such as Chain cents, 1796/7 Halves and Liberty Cap 1793 cents in unc (none are known I believe) his Registry point value would be much higher. The Oliver Jung set auctioned by ANR comes to mind and even that set didn't hav ALL uncs.

Not that I would take a thing away from the achievement PCM2 has accomplished! Only wish I could know the composition if not the actual images of his set.

    Excellent job!

I wonder how far ahead High Desert would rate if he chose to enter this subset.

  • Thank you all re my accomplishment. For obvious security reasons I do not post the coins. I do not even have pictures I guess I could learn to scan but most importantly I LOVE COIN COLLECTING and have for many years.

    PCM:

Nice job. I am comfortably way down at #12 on your list and will probably move down then up then down again, etc.

Just a thought, for security reasons you SHOULD have picture of all your coins stored somewhere in a separate safe even if you don't post your pics here.

By the way what is the significance of pcm versus pcm2?

Arrrrggggghhhh you like me didn't buy that or a similar 1792 half disme when we had the chance?

A Collectors Universe poster since 1997!
