  • 35 cents! Nice Tom. What'd you use to clean those puppies?
Also, you get a date off the quarter?
  • Man all I could get was the first 3 number's and the mint mark, that last number is real ate up.
I knew they were toasted so I just soaked them in CLR for a couple of hour's.I think they may have been in a fire,as the house that stood on this site was probally from the 40's or 50's and it is also real close to the old part of town.Probally about block from the old part.HH,Tom

    Nice!!
I've yet to find any silver larger than a dime this summer.
Where's that green with envy icon?
  • I can't see them because of my DSL connection. But they sound like sweet finds!
    Happy Hunting!image

Hey ContheC,english was my worst subject in highschoolimage

I used CLR on them,I did this because I all ready new they were fried and I just wanted to be able to get them clean and also be able to see the date's.I wouldn't use this method on good coin's.

Millennium actually the ground isn't to bad on the coin's here.We have a few park's where you can go in and dig a nice silver and it woulf look just like the day it was dropped.
I think from the look's of these coin's they went through a fire and it must of been a hot one!!As the coin's actually have bubble's in them and they have a differrent colorization then other silver's I have found.
I have found one's with the greyish look to them but nothing this dark before.HH,Tom

  • Hey, Tom. I have decided that I want the quarter to be a 1901-S. The only reason I want it to be that particular date is because, even in “GOOD” condition, PCGS price guide puts the value at $5,700.00.

    Here’s hoping …

Edited to add this link (Scroll down a little to 1901-S)

  • I know I got the red book and when I saw the 1st 3 digit's and the "S" on the back, that was the first thing that popped in my headimage
As far as I'm concerned it is a 1901simageimageand I'm sticken to itimage
I looked real hard for that last number and was trying to wish it to show but it just didn't workimageHH,Tom

  • Nice finds Tom! I'd love to find a Barber quarter! I've only found dimes thus far.
