MVP

Congrats David Ortiz, 2005 MVP. Enough said.

  • Ortiz, the DH, has nothing on the defense and offense that Arod has provided this year.

Hope they let Big Popi buy a ticket to the MVP ceremony to watch Arod graciously accept it.

Maybe he wins a Gold Glove this year too.....

the only thing AROD will be graciously accepting in the next few weeks is a small package from DJeter. Watch the highlights and weep southerncards.

game tying homer in the 8th, game winning hit in the 9. Another clutch performance.

I hate giving the MVP award to a DH, but he's the heart and soul of that team. As he goes, does the offense for the Red Sox. Sure, Manny has a lot to do with it, but he's been clutch as anyone.

If I were to have to vote, I'd tie between A-Rod & Big Papi.

  • Arod - .318 BA, 47 HR's, 129 rbi's, 18 stolen bases, outstanding defense.

Ortiz - .296 BA, 46 HR's, 144 rbi's, 1 stolen base, spends most of the game sitting on the bench.

Numbers are similar......guess the weekend series will sway the voters one way or another.....

He is but one spoke on that wheel. Minus Ortiz the Sox offense would be anemic.

I'm quite happy with Ortiz winning the MVP for the second place Sox.
  • While I am a baseball fan first, a Yankee fan second, and an underdog fan third, Ortiz should have a platform on his shoulders how he has carried the team this year. I dont think I have ever seen a performance like his. Jeff Leonards 87 LCS carried the same type of "aura", but I have never seen anything close to the consistancy that Ortiz has provided with clutch hitting for an entire season. Numbers are a good measuring stick, but they dont even begin to tell you the number of games that his timely hits have won. If the MVP race is even close, the AL sports writers should hang thier collective heads in shame........

I believe Ortiz is deserving, but so is ARod. Voters simply have to give credit for playing the field. It is an important part of the game.

Vlad? Sorry, not this year. He wasn't even voted MVP of the team by his team mates. Figgins was.

Figgins will be bringing a new meaning to the MVP award in the coming years
