Photoman very nice medal. Question: anyone know if August Sage produce a series of medals honoring other notable numismatists besides Charles Bushnell? I thought I once remembered seeing some other medals that he produced.

Straight from Dave:

Hi! In 1859 he announced he would start his Numismatic Gallery Series with the portraits of well-known numismatists. Eventually, eight different people were depicted, nine if you include No. 4, James Chilton, but I have not found any reliable account of this existing today. Perhaps they were made and suppressed.

Interesting ... I have several first editions of Charles I Bushell's works. He wrote a book in 1866 about my 6th Great Grandfather's wounding, capture, and escape in the Revolutionary War.
