gold coins has been a great hedge for your future and for me numismatic is the best which is pre 1933 usa gold coins!!
this means a combination of anything you want to collect could be

generic saints ms63 64 65
type one and two libs au to lower unc grades
type three au to ms65
one dollar gold coins threes etc au to unc the better dates even better!!
proof gold!! especially so civil war 1861-65 and pre civil war 1860 and back and ten dollar libs 1880 and up
any collectible pre 1933 numismatic usa gold coinage
if gold goes up of course so does gold bullion and numismatic gold evenmoreso!
