I think I am going to start a Red Man set

Cards are really neat looking. Anyone know what the easiest/most plentiful year is?

Thanks.

I'm working on a '55 set myself. I should have 40 cards PSA graded once I get a submission back from PSA. I am doing it in grade 6 and 7. I have one grade 5 right now.

Basically, expect to wait a long time for cards to come up on ebay. If you check the grading, many of the commons have less than 20 graded copies. So it is a challenge. The plus side is that it is a great looking set. BTW, PSA is extremely tough on raw cards.
  • check the latest SMR....it has an article on the red mans

Just give it a little time guys...the author will post...he's the best I know on the set.

IMO, there isn't a better looking odd sized set on the market! Of couse, T3s excluded - for beauty, they're off the chart!

Why 55s as opposed to the others? Easier to find? I've always admired the look of the set, yet have never looked into purchasing any.

I would highly recommend contacting 'aconte' on the SGC boards, as he's the expert. Check out his registry there...
    Enjoy your collection!

Erik answered that with his post - it's Aconte.

  • TONY CONTE (ACONTE) IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF THE SMR ARTICLE. IT WAS WRITTEN BY JIM CHURILLA.

ANYWAY, I WOULD RECOMMEND RGOLD'S WEBSITE.
  • Apparently there are dueling Red Man articles -- SGC's publication had one in its premier (By T. Conte), and apparently there is one in the most recent SMR. I think Tony follows these sets closer than anyone, so would also recommend getting in touch with him. Tony's are on the SGC registry and have scans for all the cards, so if you want to taste some eye candy, that's the place to go.

RGOLD has some great sets on the PSA Registry and has a nice website with all sorts of RedMan stuff on it.
