Do employees of Heritage, ANR, DLRC get employee discounts on inventory items, or are they not allow

One of the great things about working for an organization are the various "perks" that you get. These can come in many forms. For example, while in high school, I worked at Arby's. One of the perks of the job were free roast beef sandwiches, and we were allowed to take home any "fresh baked cookies" left in the case at the end of the night (we rigged it so that we over-baked the amount we needed late in the day image) At my other high school job, the meat department at Stop & Shop, we had our choice of the primo cuts of any meat that we wanted, before it got stocked in the cases for the masses to pick through.

Do the employees at Heritage, ANR, or DLRC, for example, get their choice of the primo "meat" that is in the inventory of those firms? Or are the employees not allowed to make purchases of inventory that is for sale to clients? Is there any sort of employee discount or other benefit to the purchases? In general it is a good marketing tool for your employees to buy your product, so I was just wondering what the rules are at various firms.

I can probably answer this on behalf of myself and the other ANR folks:

None of us buy from inventory. Not because we're not allowed to, but instead because it's not the kind of stuff we collect. I collect oddball stuff like colonial Maryland paper money and medals showing minting technology. Frank V. likes Victorian model coins and G-VG Barbers. If there were something in inventory we wanted, I suppose we could buy it, but we'd rather not compete with our customers and/or press our luck. For us, the fun in handling it, writing about it, and passing it along to someone who loves it beats the joy of owning it.

On occasion I have purchased coins from ANR auctions (like a few foreign things from Eliasberg), and I pay the same buyer's fee etc. that you all do.

Now if we sold roast beef sandwiches, I'd be all over it.

No you wouldn't. I've owned a restaurant and when your are up to your elbows in it all day long you don't want it. image

I have, on rare occasions, bought coins from companies I was working for at the time. In each case I was extended a "wholesale" price.
