Vatican 1929 Mint Set w/gold

After thinking about this set overnight, and getting some advice from forum members, I decided to purchase this Vatican set. This is the nine piece set that includes the 100L gold coin. It also comes with the original box. The set has a Krause value of $470. I paid more than this but I really like the toned silver coins and the gold. The one bronze coin does have some corrosion spots on the reverse, and a few spots (PVC) on the 50c obverse which should come off with an acetone bath. The bronze coin spots are probably there to stay. Any opinions and comments on the set are welcomed.

Very nice, I wouldn't mind having one of those. Good luck with the green spots, I haven't had much luck removing
    them myself.

The 5 and 10 lire look awesome. Didn't you buy a similar untoned 5l from me recently? image

My favourite though is the gold. What's the weight of it?

    Nice set and nice buy.

Don't worry about paying over Krause as most Vatican sets with gold in them currently trade ahead of Krause (save for maybe '58 and '59, I forget).

    I don't think I've ever seen a pre-1930 Vatican set.

Nice set! I would try to replace both coins with spots. (The green spots on the 50c appear to be verdigris and not PVC.)

Received the set today. The spotting on the two coins isn't nearly as bad as they look in the photos.

Vatican coins continued a history of great allegorical designs well into the 20th century when most other countries were not.

    Great looking set!!image
