    Dennis:

There is a coin shop in the Europa Center, which is near the Zoo at the end of the Kurfurstendam (everybody calls it the Kudam, which is one of the main streets) in Berlin. I can not remember the name of the shop, but it was a good one. I was in the Army in Berlin and have visited it a number of times since.

I haven't spent much time in Berlin since the wall came down, nor did I ever actively seek out coin shops then or later.

Perhaps you can PM Udo and see if he has any connections?

    Good luck.

And I suppose you'll be visiting the Pergamon Museum? Perhaps they have coins (but not for sale!).

Please share some pictures with us when you get back. Thanks!

    Hi Dennis,

3 Mark stated a very good address image

    it is:

    Thomas Pollandt
    Europacenter Nr. 30
    10789 Berlin

    Tel: 030/2621888
    E-Mail: TEDNAL@aol.com

I'm sure you'll visit the "Kudamm" with your class and you'll have the opportunity to visit that shop.

In my opinion it really sucks to search for a coin shop in a unknown city, but however, if you have time you can search for the following shops as well:

    Niels Menzel
    Münzen - Medaillen
    Dachsteinweg 12
    12107 Berlin- Mariendorf

    Telefon: 030-85 55 296

    ------------------------------------------------

    Klaus Priese
    Münhandlung Priese und Mehlhausen
    Berliner Münzauktion Org. GmbH
    Chausseestraße 16
    10115 Berlin

    Telefon: 030-282 99 20
    www.berlinermuenzauktion.de
    E-Mail: berlinermuenzauktion@snafu.de

    ------------------------------------------------

    Michael Otto
    Wollankstr. 117
    13187 Berlin

    Tel: 030/4856944

    ------------------------------------------------

    Astrid Rippel
    Falkenplatz 7
    13505 Berlin

    Tel: 030/43667832
    E-Mail: muenzberlin@t-online.de

    ------------------------------------------------

Get yourself a city-map, or search on google for "Stadtplan Berlin" to find out where those shops are located. I'd suggest to call them on the phone before you visit them, to ensure that they are opened in the time frame you're going to visit them.

Nothing sucks more if you've found that damn shop after hours, just to realize that it is closed when you arrive. image
