I was so depressed that the Yankees lost.....

that I overdosed on Tostitos. image

Wakeup call to Joe Torre: leave Aaron Small in the Starting Rotation and take Jarod Wright out. Wright is a magnet and I don't mean babe magnet. In his last 3 out of 4 starts, he gets hit in the chest, gets hit in the neck, and gets hit in the chest again. Torre is probably getting pressure to leave Wright in the Starting Rotation since he is one of Boss George's Million Dollar Babies.

  • If you are looking for sympathy, you're in the wrong place. You've alienated nearly everyone with your obnoxious posts! And if the Yankees don't make the post-season, you're in for more aggravation. Next time, don't gloat!

You think I lose sleep over what anybody says on this board? Now go back and root for YOUR team:

    The New York Mess
Winning %=.497, 10.5 games behind the NL East Division perennial leading Braves
    Team salary = $104,770,139

And how much are the Mets paying for Beltran? The Yankees were smart for a change.

I got really upset about the Yankees losing too. Jared Wright giving up all those runs was the culprit. The Yankees never got a consistent staff all year. They cannot afford to give games away like that.
Hopefully Wang pitches decent tomorrow and the Yankee offense could do its usually havoc.

  • They have a very consistent staff now....Johnson, Mussina, Chacon, Wang, and Small. All they have to do is move Wright to the Bullpen and don't muck with things.
  • Spammy, don't you think you were a little quick to second-guess Torre? If I recall correctly, Wright's previous start was pretty good.

But if you are supersticious, perhaps you have a point -- Wright does seem to get hit by batted balls a lot, and Small has been quite the good luck charm for the Yanks.

By the way, your new sig pic is better. It was kind of stupid to have one with Derek Lowe in it.
  • cornhusker, thanks on the sig compliments.

Since Wright came back he was pitching very well, until he starting getting hit in his chest or neck almost every game. When they got him, based upon his prior injury history I was not too happy, Without Small the Yankees would be out of the race. With all Small has meant to the team and Wright's new found "magnetism" Small should be put back in the Starting Rotation. Pretty soon it's not going to matter much because if they make the playoffs they really only need 3 starters so another decision will have to be made on who to cut. If they make the playoffs it will Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina (if he is healthy), and either Chacon or Wang.

I think the Yankees need 4 starters for the playoffs. One can easily get injured like we have seen during the season. While Johnson, Mussina and Chacon can pitch the playoffs, you might need Wang if one falters. Small should be kept as long relief and emergency starts.

  • Deut, I am sure the Yankees will carry 5 starters, 2 to be used in relief. That is what I meant when I picked my 3.
