Interesting second chance offer 86/87 Fleer

Hey guys, I got a second chance offer for Item #5241128100. It is a complete set of PSA 8 86/87 Fleer basketball cards with all the stickers. My bid was $1,069 and the high bid was $1,780. The thing that I wonder about is that 3 other bidders bid hundreds more than I did. Why is the seller offering me the set at what appears to be a good price. The guy has 100% feedback.

Besides contacting the seller and and asking some pertinent questions, what do you guys think of the offer?

a popular scam now is to send fake "2nd chance offers" to underbidders of high dollar auctions.. whatever you do, just make sure that it's actually from the original seller..

  • If you did really receive a legitimate second change offer, there will be a notice on your "my ebay" page when you log into ebay. Just make sure you DONT log into ebay through any links in the 2nd change offer email.
  • Buyers have the option of whether to receive second chance offers or not. I only know this because I have offered second chance offers and I wasn't able to select some buyers because they chose not to accept any 2nd chance offers. I'm not sure if this is the case or not in your situation but that may explain why some bidders ahead of you did not receive an offer.

Also bsfastball is right, once you get a 2nd chance offer, it acts as an auction with you as the only bidder who can buy it or not. The seller sets the time limit(such as 3 or 5 days or so) and if you don't buy before the time expires then its as if the auction ends with no bidders.
    Current Sets:
    1960 Armour Coins
    Greg Maddux Basic
    Greg Maddux Master
    All Time 49ers
  • The second chance offer came from a Yahoo account in the UK, when the original description said the item location was in the states. I don't have any sign of this offer in my My Ebay section and the "seller" e-mail says to complete the transaction through replying to the e-mail.

Something is rotten in Denmark, or the UK if you will. I did e-mail the seller from the original auction page to see if, by chance, this was legit.

scam , I got one on an item where I was the 6th bidder and the item did not meet reserve
  • Scam all the way, I got an e-mail back from the seller saying that he didn't make the offer. I would love to have a face to face meeting with the guy that sent the e-mail.
