I don't easily shy away from bidding on autographs very often taking a risk here and there on an autograph possibly being fake but trust the sellers feedback rating..
It might be worth the risk.. it will go for cheap and what a deal if it were to come out authentic by PSA/DNA. If you look at his feedback 95% of the 107 feedbacks received have been private auctions.. all buyers but two have left positive feedback and the two that left negative feedback don't seem just.
Signatures can change over time, but looking at these two there are differences. The UD one, all the letters are joined together without any breaks. The one on the card has several points were the letters are not connected, the T does not look the same, the M is not the same. Just my observations.
This Munson signature is fake. I have absolutely no question. I speak from almost 35 years of autograph collecting, and I am especially familiar with players from the 1970s. Note that the seller doesn't even spell Munson's first name correctly in the post. Good feedback or now, this one is not going to pass muster on any authentication, save for PRO, GEM, etc.
Munson's signature did change from rookie until his death, but not much. Munson ABSOLUTELY HATED to sign autographs and was a pretty nasty person to those of us who hung around the Oakland Coliseum getting signatures in the 1970s. In my experience possibly the unfriendly athlete I ever met, save for possibly Kirk Gibson. Mike Marshall and Bill Russell always turned you down, but did so very politely.
Munson's signature "keys' are the "T" andn "M" at the beginning of his first and last names. He used two different "T" styles from examples I have seen, but NEVER have I seen one like the one in the eBay posting.
I asked if I won and sent it to PSA/DNA and it came back as not authentic would they refund my money.
Response:
Yes, but would not cover the PSA charge and shipping would not be refunded. Have had a lot of items I've collected go to PSA and all have come back 100%. Good luck bidding.
Allow me to put this one to bed. Being a huge Munson fan, and having seen many legit Thurm autographs, I was curious about this one. It did not look good to me and I decided to send it to PSA Quick Opinion service. Talk about quick - it took 90 minutes to get us all an answer. A great deal for $7.95 and saved me and others some of our hard earned cash.
Enjoy the day guys,
Steve

I emailed the seller again today, saying that a friend had done the quick opinion on this and included this Your Request for Item "Thurman Munson Index card autograph - comes with Mely Auctions COA?", Ebay Item No. "5245593199", opinion was rendered at "9/22/2005 10:07:10 AM" and the result was:
Response: "Likely Not Genuine"
His response:Well thanks for passing it on, but that is why I have a 100 percent money back return policy. And the result dosent mean too much. They want money to give their approval so most items are likely not until you submit an item and have them pay to authenticate it. Anyways, that has been my experience with them. They are in business to make money. They are not going to tell you yes or no but just leave it up in the air. Otherwise no one would need to send an item to them for them to verify.
Usually autograph sellers have autos on everything/anything....cards, photos, checks, index cards, balls, bats, etc. I'll be sending him an email to block me from his future auctions. lol

Honestly, IMO? Not good. That's why no one is bidding and also, guy has bad FB rating.

Keep movin'.
private auction + very small scan = very bad vibes

That could easily be traced as well as just a good shot at his auto.
It just doesn't look good.

Tom, I'll leave it alone if you'll be bidding on it but if you're not going too please let me know.
