I just got a card that was graded PSA 1MK and remembered there was some gossip about 1Q's. Are PSA 1Q'a valid grades?

    Cool. Thanks. Wasn't really sure what it meant. I have received numerous PSA 1s (when grading oily Kahns), but never a 1MK. On the registry ... do these still count for 1 point?

    Good question! I just performed a couple of tests. I created one registry set with only a single PSA 9 O/C card and another set with only one PSA 1 MK card. Here are the results:

    PSA 1 MK - Weighted GPA = 1.00
    PSA 9 OC - Weighted GPA = 7.00

    Now I seem to recall that qualifiers are generally penalized 2 grades except for PSA 1 & 2. Not positive but my guess is:

    9 with qualifier = 7
    8 with qualifier = 6
    7 with qualifier = 5
    6 with qualifier = 4
    5 with qualifier = 3
    4 with qualifier = 2
    3 with qualifier = 1
    2 with qualifier = 1
    1 with qualifier = 1

    3Q is only a -1, so it counts as a 2.

    Ok Jeff, fess up. What super rare basketball card did you settle for a psa 1 MK???

    I'm at work so I can't scan in the 1MK, but I did add the card to the registry the other day. Its part of my 1957 Kahn's set (a Richard Regan PSA 1MK, the only Regan I have). As of last week, I finished this set (just need to send in the Stokes and the Lovellette to get graded -- both are really nice and should be a PSA 3 or PSA 4).

    There has been a lot of movement on the Kahn's front. There was a group of about 30 uncirculated Kahns basketball cards from 1957 that were found a few months ago. This is the first 1950s era Kahn's basketball set where uncirculated cards were found. There were a few players missing from the find (loveletteI think and Stokes for sure). Taking away the lot of of uncirculated Kahns ... I think the best 1957 was a PSA 4. As some of you have seen on ebay., common PSA 8s from the find were getting about $600-$700 while PSA 7s were going for $350-$500. For Kahn's ... this was definitely the holy grail find.

    If anyone has any 58 or 59 Kahns ... please send me a list. I'm only 8 cards away from an entire run of Kahns from 1957-65 and need only cards from these sets. On that note, I'm basically in the same position with my second run of Kahns ... so if anyone wants a run of Kahns ...

    Hope all is well and thanks for the PSA 1MK. I was thinking of getting my bread labels graded, but they would all come back as PSA 1MK (due to the glue residue on the back of all labels).

    I am in the market for a 57 kahns wanzer and 63 kahns lucas. Let me know if you have any leads on these.

    PS. I saw that wanzer that ended the other night, except it was a couple hours after it closed. Is $100 a good price for that condition?

    Unfortunately, I only have 2 of each. I am actually working on two runs (as I want to have an entire run for trade bait).
