Famous gloats

Reading Gemmy's many messages about how the Yankees are going to win the division and the Series makes me wonder about what other famous gloats there have been in the past - gloats that did NOT pan out but became the source of embarrassment. Mike Tyson comes to mind, such as his bragging about what he would do to Lennox Lewis. What a joke. Any other famous gloats that failed? How will Gemmy salvage his pride if the Yankees don't win as he predicts?

    He'll just close his eyes and pretend it didn't happen, just like the biggest choke in all of sports history, the 2004 yankees choking away 4 in a row to Boston.

    The Seattle Mourners having won a AL record breakinh 116 games in 2001 choking to the Yankees in 4 games. Now that is one BIG choke. It has scarred Axthole for life. The 1998 Yankees still hold the record of 125-50 and they won the World Series. I am ecstatic it happened in my lifetime. I can tell my grand kids about the great Derek Jeter.

    Again spammy misses the point.

    The mariners weren't gloating, they just worked hard. They didn't have a fat $200 million payroll to fall back on.

    And for anyone to think any other sports collapse other than the 2004 yankees flailing around losing 4 in a row isn't the biggest choke ever, well, they have no idea whatsoever.
