Going to use Uncle Al as a Lefty Relief Specialist. Leiter has not walked one lefty and stuck out 12. Could be an awesome move with the Yankees newly resurrected pitching staff. With Mussina coming back, one of the starters besides Leiter has to go to the bullpen. So many choices.

So was I - it was like having a spy in the other teams camp.

I know - what, are you kidding? So many choices? From that patchwork starting rotation, to the weak bullpen (I'll give you Rivera, but not against the Sox) - the pitching staff will be the Yanks undoing this season.
It's amazing how fans see through rose colored glasses.

What are you talking about? are you on medication? Your posts make no sense, and one thing you post has absolutely nothing to do with the other...or am I just catching them before you have a chance to edit them?
spammer.

I am confused too - what does this drivel mean? I never once said the Sox pitching staff was having a great season - you keep bringing up how the Yanks have "so many choices" and how their team ERA and runs allowed are so hot. I have news for you, Spammy - your pitching staff (what's left of it) stinks, and career minor leaguers like Aaron Small are not what a championship team staff is made out of.
<< <i>Heart is what a championship team is made of and this written off team is showing one helluva a lot of heart. >>
nice try there spam boy! nice try to change the topic!
And what are you talking about? This team is showing heart? In scraping to the playoff chase? Having a pathetic losing record against one of the worst teams in the league? Having a pitching staff with over $80 million in payroll and an ERA approaching 5? There is no heart on this team...if you want to see heart, I'd ask you look at the 2004 boston red sox, choking the life out of 'your' yankees in 4 straight, about Schilling going out, broken stitches and all, and DOMINATING the highest paid team in the bigs.
That, sir, is HEART.

Exactly - what a stretch it is for you to use the word "heart" when talking about the Yanks. According to an interview Embree gave shortly after he joined the Yanks, he was amazed at the difference between the Yanks clubhouse and the Sox clubhouse. The Sox clubhouse was more of a team atmosphere, with the guys being friends on and off the field - and having fun playing the game. The Yanks were (are) the 25 players, 25 cabs team, and their was (is) no team unity or support.
Heart is not defined, by the way, by those little fist pumps that Jeter does after every routine play.

ctsoxfan, I heard on the sports news today that the Boston newspapers are in full fledge mode talking about a possible Bosox choke. Is that true? Also that Boston sportswriter who predicted the Red Sox would win by a huge amount of games must be eating the proverbial crow now.

Wait?
The yankees have led the division a total combined ONE day all year....the yankees have outspent the red sox by nearly 70 million, yet they have pushed their way to the cream of the crop while the spankees have 'scratched and clawed' all season praying for a playoff spot.
And last time I checked, the YANKEES were the one sitting out of a playoff spot right now....
Who's eating crow, again?

There were a few articles, one in the Herald specifically, that mentioned how the team was tired, dispirited, and weary. And, there are a few fans over on the Sox boards that are echoing those thoughts. But, what team isn't right now? I still bet that the Sox will find a way to hold onto this thing, and enter the postseason as the AL East champs.
Hey, New York papers get on the Yankees and Mets all the time. I know, but I was just wondering if what I heard on CBS radio sports news was true.
1) I'm not sure if it's news when a team - even the vaunted Yankees - gives up on a pitcher who has posted a sub-.500 record over the course of his 700-team big league career.
2) Heart should probably never be used in conjunction with a team whose payroll exceeds $200 million.

Hey, the pitching staff was in shambles. People on this board were making fun of all the pitchers the Yankees bought up from the minors. I think heart applies here despite their huge payroll.
