  • I remember growing up my dad would take me to the stadium to watch all the greats- Ted Lepcio, Camilo Pascual, Gus Zernial... Ahhhh the memories.

I think PSA has lost their mind.

wow that is pathetic!!! I think you have to call Joe O on this bull and fight it. on that list , there are 3 hofs which should have been pulled the rest is complete bull. all of a sudden all yankees , dodgers and red sox are stars , what a pathetic joke!

the customer service rep must have found his wife in bed with 2 guys the night before and decided to take it out on you!

I would have told them to send half of those back to me and not given them a penny to grade them. Sorry to hear about that, most of those are a joke.

On a side note, in my very humble opinion, I don't see why the grading fee can't be based on turnaround time. Period. Maybe you could have a "Cards valued over $1000" caveat, but every other grading company does a fixed turnaround time pricing structure. I agree with the bulk submission discounts but aside from that, the rest of it is so inconsistent that I just don't understand it. Plus they cranked up their prices 2 years ago by 50% + on almost all of the categories.

Ugh. My membership is up in 2 days. My last 2 submissions went out today.
  • I'm ashamed of all you PSA members, complaining all the time...have you forgotten your pledge to PSA?

I pledge allegiance to the slab,
and the infallible graders of Orlando
and to the Corporation for which it stands,
    one grader under Joe, unaccountable,
with liability and inconsistency for all.

  • Contrary to what many people here seem to believe, for sets that are listed in the SMR, PSA does make it clear as to what can and can not be submitted as "commons". To fall into the "commons" category, the card can not be individually listed in the SMR. Basically, anything that falls into the "singles" category of the SMR listing for that particular year is fair game for a "commons" submission.

For sets that are not listed in the SMR, the "commons" category would exclude HOFers and guys like Pete Rose, Roger Maris, and Joe Jackson. Other cards may also be excluded (rookie cards, short-prints, minor/regional stars, Yankees, Brooklyn Dodgers, etc). If in doubt, consult Lemke's Standard Catalog and/or call PSA Customer Service.

As for Ripublican's submissions of mainstream 1955 Topps and 1955 Bowman cards, it is crystal clear as to what is and what is not considered a "common". I don't understand what all the whining is about.

Looking at Ripublican's 2 submissions, you will see that PSA made 7 mistakes. 5 of those mistakes were in Ripublican's favor. 2 were not.

Ripublican's two submissions contained 61 cards: 42 "commons" and 19 "non-commons". Technically, and according to PSA's submission policy, Ripublican came out ahead as he was only charged full price for 16 of the 19 "non-commons".

  • The "whining" was for my 6$ submissions being 12$ when they hit PSA. I wouldn't have even had them graded, if not for the registry.

PS. Kuntry, none of those are listed with PSA 8 values of more than 500 bucks, which woul dhave made them " $ 500 and up service level"

If there is little effort put into updating SMR prices, I certainly would view what is listed or not in the SMR as somewhat arbitrary.

Think about it, no one in their right mind would pay $12 get many of the cards listed as "non-commons" graded. Otherwise you would have an artificial "low-pop".
