Coin shops in Copenhagen?

Anyone know of a nice coin shop in Copenhagen?

Heading there next week with my wife for a conference and a few days of vacation - it will be her first time out of the country image

It's been nearly 25 years since I've been in Copenhagen - I hope Tivoli is still open!

  • Parts of Tivoli should be open, As well as the Restaurants & Bars. You should try to see the Glyptoteck which is a huge Museum funded by Carlsberg Beer. It is only a block or two from Tivioli, and has a great collection of Roman, Greek and Egyptian Sculpture, Art, and COINS.

I used to live in Roskilde, About 30 minutes from Copenhagen on the train, and there is a small but good shop on Main Street there.

It is also the home of the old mint, and the summer palace of the kings. Roskilde has a wonderful (Probably the best in the world) Viking Ship museum as well. It could be a nice town to visit and really take in the real flavor of the country. Lots of small shops & Restaurants on main street. Lunch at the Prinsen hotel is usually great.

Have a great time over there,

It was a couple of weeks ago when our cruise ship docked in Copenhagen for a day. We took one of the other tours, and I didn't find any coins shops in the area where we had our (too) brief shopping spree.imageimageimage

There's a nice shop around the corner from the auction house Bukowoski's. Both places are worth a shot.

The Glyptotek is my favorite museum to visit in Copenhagen, although I've never seen coins there. A block or two away is the National Museum, which includes a nice coin exhibit. Even if a lot of the coins have been cleaned and are unworthy of being housed in slabs...

BTW, if you go to the National Museum, let us know what you think of the Libertas Americana medal!

  • If it helps, here is a link to coin and stamp dealers in Denmark.

You can scroll around and see which ones are located in Copenhagen (København) along with there location and phone (tlf) numbers. Most of thoose listed seems to specialise in stamps though but some seem to be dealing mainly with coins (Mønter). Unfortunally I havent done business with any coin store owner in Copenhagen to be able to personally recommend any.

  • And here is an updated list where I narrowed the listed ones down, to merely concern the ones in the Copenhagen area.
