ABC's Musburger ticketed in Lincoln

Is this funny or what?

"ABC sportscaster Brent Musburger was ticketed after Saturday's Nebraska football game after a police officer saw him drinking a beer in a motor vechicle near Memorial Stadium, Lincoln police said.

Musburger faces a $144 fine if he does not fight the ticket, which was issued on suspicion of having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and drinking alcohol in a public place.

The 66-year old Musburger, who was a passenger in the vehicle, had just finished broadcasting the Husker's game against the University of Pittsburgh. He was ticketed at 6:10 p.m. at Ninth and T streets, just west of the stadium.

The police officer who ticketed Musburger did not recognize him, at least initially, Lincoln Police Capt. Allen Soukup said, "He had no idea who the guy was."

Several other people also had been ticketed for similar alcohol offenses Saturday, Soukup said."

Are you kiddin' me? Out of 77,000 people only Musburger and "several other people" were ticketed for open containers? image

What is it with these sportscasters and drinking and bad driving? I remember an SI article on Musburger about 20 years ago which stated he had a reputation for running toll booths on the Connecticut Turnpike!! It's time to put him out to pasture!!

But Keith Jackson must work until he dies -- at age 105!!

He was in the passenger's seat, backseat too from your article? Not trying to defend it, but if all he's having is a beer, and it's probably because he's having a couple before he has to jump a flight, I don't really see the harm.

The driver obviously wasn't drinking, or he would have been arrested.

My feelings exactly. Like I said, out of 77,000 they nab Musburger for an open container? You have to be kiddin' me. And like you said, he wasn't driving, just a passenger being driven somewhere. I wonder how many motor homes on I-80 had open containers in them on their way home too?

How stupid? The guy has to get bad press because he's sitting in the back seat of a car, swilling a brew. What harm does this do? A-holes abound.

Is that a mandatory life sentence in Nebraska ? I hope it is so the clown will not be able to announce college football. He is for sure the worst ever.
