1984 Topps Nestle's: PSA must do something with their Pop Report

Come on PSA! You have graded and listed 259 '84 Topps Nestle cards in your Population Report. You stopped grading these cards because after you began to grade them, you discovered examples appeared to be cut from sheets other than "factory cut".

Well PSA, if you made grading errors in your first 259 examples, why do you continue to list those "early mistakes" in your population report?

The way I see it, PSA owes it to their client base, and do one of three things:

1. Eliminate these items from the PSA population report altogether, or at least make some notation in the Population Report such as, "these 259 examples were graded by PSA in error, as PSA no longer grades 1984 Topps Nestle cards, due to these cards not being factory cut.

2. Keep the items in the PSA Population Report, but change the description to, "1984 Topps Nestle Hand Cut", and allow others to send-in their examples for grading as "hand cut".

3. PSA, just keep it like it is in the Population Report, and continue to confuse the issue and your client base.

In my opinion, these are beautiful cards, hand cut or factory cut, so what? PSA allows dozens of examples of other cards, stamps, stickers, etc. that are "hand cut" and are allowed to be graded by PSA, so please PSA, allow these 1984 Topps Nestle cards to also be graded as "hand cut", why not? Just because PSA made early grading errors, does not mean PSA needed to "sweep the whole series under the rug", and just stop grading them. Correct your mistake and label and continue to grade them correctly, as "hand cuts"!

1984 Topps Nestle PSA Population Report

Here are some of the great stars (that are simular to the regular Topps and OPC '84 sets): Ryan, Ozzie, Rose, Brett, Gwynn, Mattingly, Ripken, Molitor, Schmidt, Seaver, Sandberg, Yount and much more!

These Topps Nestle cards deserve to be in PSA holders, as they are part of baseball card history, and contain many hofers and stars!

Go ahead PSA, call them "hand cut" if you want!

But please! By all means, go ahead PSA and start grading them again!

Indeed. I have all of the Schmidts PSA-graded, but obviously cannot get any more graded. SGC, BGS and GAI all grade them. If PSA does not grade any soon - I will just be shipping off my nice examples to them.

p.s. do not eliminate them from the population report. I paid $100- for my PSA 10 - and I think it's ridiculous that they can just make my card disappear. Stand by what you have done in the past - or correct it.

  • Sounds like a pretty lousy way to do business if you asked me....

I have one of these sheets...I think I have the best one, with all the stars on it. How would one go about hand cutting these?

I used the paper cutter in office depot, and cut some Hostess panels, and I have to say, came out pretty nice! I would think you could do the same for a sheet, no?

My guess would be to cut the sheet in half, and then cut it in half again. And then begin to cut the individual cards. As I think it will be easier to work with a smaller section . If you do use a paper cutter, could you post your efforts? Maybe PSA will allow "hand cut panels" of three cards to be graded in the near future. That would make for interesting graded variations. I think if there are enough requests, PSA may come around?
