1968 Topps 3-D PSA 10 Willie Davis, Why soooooo expensive?

Why is a 1968 Topps 3-D Willie Davis PSA 10 with a population of 13 graded PSA 10s, have such a high "SMR price tag"?

Here is one being auctioned for $3,860! Wow!

Take a "look-see" at the SMR prices for the 1968 Topps 3-D series:

I guess they are rare?

  • Topps 3Ds are rare, but Davis (Maloney and Fairly) are the easiest of the group to find. The BIN is much higher than what this card has previously sold for. However, whoever said that the SMR was the authority on value?

  • If you look at his offers you see that he's already had 3 offers he's declined....since APRIL. So even though these cards seem quite rare, this has got to be quite a high price. Does anybody know what the others have previously sold for (and for that matter, what's SMR on it?).

If you wait long enough the card will be free.

this time next year it will be under 200.00

just a few more weeks after that the seller will have to pay you to take it off his hands.

that has been my intent all along.

    Good for you.
  • I've seen Davis-Fairly-Maloney for ~$1300 in PSA 10. Either you see these in 10 or low grade, i.e., not too many 6-9s.

  • I recall a non-Ebay auction (by one of the well known auction houses) about one to two years ago where one lot consisting of PSA 10's for Davis, Fairly and Maloney went for about $600 total.
