Basically, yes. They bought the equipment from Sports Collectors Digest grading, and are trying to look similar, in hopes that people wil consider them legitimate. Early results are not encouraging.
Its really disappointing that SCD didnt do anything with that sale to keep the buyer from using the letters SCD as part of thier logo. It would be like someone someone purchasing SGC or PSA and keeping the same type logo and hiring thier own graders. The whole sale probably hinged on being able to keep using the letters SCD so it seems like a carefully planned scheme. Wouldnt touch them with a 10 foot pole. Way to many 9's and 10's out there even though they are mostly of modern cards. I think the amount of 9's and 10's of most of the major modern rookies graded in only one year have already surpassed the amount PSA has graded in its 15 years. The company seems to be a "more reputable" Gem or PRO...

Need to buy something for the wife or girlfriend? Check out Vintage Designer Clothing.
These are grown men sitting around a business table with input and knowledge of this industry.
What were they thinking?
Only possible consideration? They sold out for some cash!
They probably couldn't have sold the equipment without letting them "duplicate" the trade ID.
For a few dollars? Shame on Krause!
BTW, that was NOT SCD who made that decision IMO - SCD is just one of the cogs in the Krause publication wheel.

You're likely right. Money makes the world go round...especially in the world of baseball cards.
