Small garage sale find.......

Today at my own block's garage sale I found a small handfull (18) of 1959 Fleer Ted Williams cards creased and very worn for 50 cents each. Not much but it was still nice to find.

  • Just knowing that there was a handful of 59 Fleers out there on a garage sale table, without someone someone leafing through a Beckett and asking 30.00 apiece for them torn in half and creased or not, is what makes card collecting what it is.....

    Nice find.

I had a couple small thrift store finds today - a Laffit Pincay Jr. bobblehead for a dollar, and 2 1966 Topps BB commons (both about EX) and 1979 Topps Lou Brock (ExMt) for 50 cents apiece.

My big find was a 1st American edition, first printing hardback The Silmarillion (Good/Good, with foldout map intact) for $2.40. image [Basically, it's a $10 to $12 item on alibris or another rare book site - I paid less than shipping alone.]

I'd love to have a find like that. The closest I've come is a 7th printing at one of our local thriftshops for $1.50
