Small garage sale find.......

Today at my own block's garage sale I found a small handfull (18) of 1959 Fleer Ted Williams cards creased and very worn for 50 cents each. Not much but it was still nice to find.

Just knowing that there was a handful of 59 Fleers out there on a garage sale table, without someone someone leafing through a Beckett and asking 30.00 apiece for them torn in half and creased or not, is what makes card collecting what it is.....

I had a couple small thrift store finds today - a Laffit Pincay Jr. bobblehead for a dollar, and 2 1966 Topps BB commons (both about EX) and 1979 Topps Lou Brock (ExMt) for 50 cents apiece.

My big find was a 1st American edition, first printing hardback The Silmarillion (Good/Good, with foldout map intact) for $2.40. [Basically, it's a $10 to $12 item on alibris or another rare book site - I paid less than shipping alone.]

I'd love to have a find like that. The closest I've come is a 7th printing at one of our local thriftshops for $1.50
