    Maybe a cast counterfeit? Looks kinda grainy like it could have been made from a sand mold.

    Tough to say from the pics, but it didn't raise any red flags for me.

    My impression is that it's an authentic coin that's been just scuffed around a bit.

    Here is mine image Slabbed MS61 by NGC. The oh-so-obvious line across Nap’s cheek is nearly imperceptible on the coin, but I guess the light hit it just right in the pic. Line in the cheek or not, I won't be sending it back in with hopes of an upgrade image - Preussen

    Speaking of scruffy old French gold, I just got this one, though I have not yet been able to pick it up from the Post Office.

    Looks overgraded to me, but I am hoping it will look better in hand. I have a hunch it will. It will still be overgraded, but it will look better.

    IMO, if the question "Authentic or fake" is posed, it is the first sign one should move on.
