Spanish coins.

Can anyone on here recommend a good source for 1780s Spanish portrait coinage?

I'm particularly looking for high grade minor silver denominations (i.e not 8 reale coins), 2 reales are heavily preferred. Or failing this i want a piece of gold coinage.

I found this website with gold coinage, but can anyone vouch for them?

The word 'Treasure' irks me there. Sounds too much like hype to me. Plus i have no idea on the prices.

Since these appear to be Mexican coins and I collected Mexico once, I would try donbailey-mexico.com.
I'm traveling on memory and running out of fuel.
  • Mexico is fine, it was part of the Spanish Empire anyhow, so it's still Charles III whichever way you look at it.

Madrid mint is preferable to Mexico mint, but if push comes to shove... image

If I may jump in on this thread, I am also looking for Spanish (not colonial) 2 reales coins from Phillip V or Carlos III. I want to find some of the debased 2 reales coins that circulated in the American colonies.

  • Fine by me since we're after the same thing! image
