    Joe-

Have you ever in your life shown class or won with dignity?

    I didn't think so.

You're a buffoon. You make real bucs fans like myself cringe whenever you open your big, fat trap.

The Eagles are the BEST team in the NFC and they will win the championship again this season.

Stevek, I'm with you ... except I really do not mind the Falcons. Monday's game does not worry me at all.

I hope to see the bucs in the playoffs - they beat a chump team last week.

Im sorry but that was not the BEST team on monday night! it was very clear owens is your only wr threat! you have no power running game. we held LT to 72 yards, and they have many more wr weapons then you guys. Look for the cowboys to take it to the eagles week 5!!

HERE COMES THE TRAIN COWBOYS ALL THE WAY!!

Atlanta Falcons are a class organization with good fans. Cant say that about eagles fans here in atlanta as some were seen pi$$ing on the walls inside the dome. they were talking about it on 790 the zone. pretty classless if you ask me!

Look for a very low scoring ugly game with dallas winning like 16-10. spread is dallas -6

Skins do have a great defense and cowboys d is only gonna get better by the week. our offense is much better then there's, that what will make the difference. im predicting cowboys 3-1 when eagles come to dallas to get there a$$es handed to them! making us 4-1!

Agree with 1420 - the loss is no biggie. The team will come back with a vengeance.

This one is out of the way like all the other slow starts in the past five years.

In few weeks you guys will be harping on some new lame excuse for the Eagles 4-1 record.

joestalin - "What do you expect, with a weak NFC and weaker out of division schedule." Of course never mentioning that the Bucs are in the NFC and largely responsible for stinking up the conference for the last two years.

kuhlmann - "I never said the Cowboys would make the Super Bowl in 05." Tom Landry will be spinning in his grave again this year just in time to use him as a rotisserie for the Thanksgiving turkey.

As for the fans pi$$ing in the Georgia Dome - you shouldn't put the "exit here" signs so close to the bathroom.

As if Bulldogs fans hold their pinkies out while drinking their beers and speak kindly of the opposing fans when they play the Gators. They don't call that game "The World's Largest C@cktail Party" for nothing.

    2) what makes you think the Eagles are not going to be BETTER than they were last year? >>

Well I'm not a cowboys fan, but I'll chime in:

    (1) the dissent between TO and McNabb is going to affect their on the field performance....though he had over 100 yards, I don't see them going a full year without dissent.

    (2) they didn't make any big changes on either offense or defense to improve, while many other teams did. That makes the Eagles' advantages over those teams to be not as decisive, therefore, they got worse.

    (3) the loss of Pinkston, while on the surface not huge, is a big loss. The receivers behind TO are largely unproven and defenses will be able to key into TO even more with no real threat at WR without Pinkston.

    (4) Moronic plays like Trotter get thrown out before the game even started speaks volumes to the amount of control Reid has lost over this team.

    (5) finally, losing that game against a team who is likely to be there at the end could very well end up deciding home field for the playoffs - very, very selfish and STUPID of Trotter to make that move.

I don't think the atlanta defense is as good as they showed against Philly...I think the eagles are going to have some serious questions to answer, and the 49ers did a very good job at keeping up with and beating a Rams team which, top to bottom, is superior offensively to the Eagles. I don't think the eagles have a guaranteed win sunday, and I think they might be looking beyond the 49ers which will lead to their downfall against them.

Axtell - you truly are clueless. I don't EVER remember a team in the regular season coming off a nice win like SF did, then next week being as high as a 13 1/2 point dog and winning the game. Certain things just do not ever happen - the Eagles are a stone cold mortal lock to win the game which isn't of course any great prediction on my part. But for you to imply that the 49ers could win...again, you are totally clueless. The term "On any given Sunday" sometimes simply does not apply.

Axtell i have to disagree with you about the falcons defense. they played amazing monday night and i think with the addition of hartwell at LB makes them very solid. I cant say enough about the job Hall did on TO.

On that note i truly believe eagles season could go either way after 5 weeks. they could totally fall flat or pick up where they left off last year. I cant make a serious judgement until after a couple of weeks. all the other talk is just trash to mess with these guys!!

all though you guys seem a bit more anxious this year then last year?? are we a little worried?

as for bledsoe he is much better then vinny! is he faster? i dont think so. but i think his release is quicker. plus addition of marco rivera will help bledsoe have more time then vinny did. plus dallas d is much better and will be very dominant by week 10. once the rookies get used to the nfl. burnett will be back this week our rookie LB draft pick which will help the kickoff returns.

as for the kick coverage i want to see how many sproles breaks this year before we say dallas kick coverage is a mess. i think that kid is faster then dante hall?

so we doing the logo thing again this year? im an 0-2 in this cr@p! let me know what the bet is? both games or one at a time?

What was the spread in the Rams/49ers game?

Stone cold mortal lock? I'd agree that the Eagles SHOULD win the game, but to say that it's assured speaks to a lot of what I was saying. The eagles are most likely looking forward to week 3 already, and that could be a big factor.

I thought we had already agreed to this but perhaps I'm mistaken. It's the loser changes his icon for a week after the upcoming game is over. We'll worry about the secong game later. In other words when the Cowboys lose this upcoming game, you are forced under penalty of CU forum law to immediately after the game change your icon to an Eagles icon, up until the Cowboys kickoff time of their next game. Then you can it change back if you decide not to keep this beloved & cherished Eagles icon. Hey, I already got stung with this Falcons logo in all my posts this week and I ain't getting stung again - no way the Eagles lose to the Cowboys in this game! All Cowboys fans here should be in on this - but if you are frightened that your Cowboys will lose...then it is understood why you would be too scared to participate.

<<< What was the spread in the Rams/49ers game? >>>

Doesn't matter...that was the first game of the regular season. My point was a team coming off a nice win and then being a huge dog during the regular season. I agree with you though about the Eagles could be looking past this game - but they still simply can't lose to the 49ers. McNabb is nicked up a bit and might not even play, although he probably will, yet the line is still at 13 1/2 - that tells you all you need to know that the Eagles can't lose.

As far as the spread...that's a different story - I don't gamble anymore so I don't worry about the spread but it would be foolish not to believe that it is an excellent indicator of what's going to happen. The books are uncanny with their forecasting accuracy.
A few years back there was a published study about this and I forget which was which but overall in the NFL games played since the Super Bowl, the books were 49.9% right on the favorite and 50.1% right on the dogs...again might have been the other way around but that is as close to 50/50 as you can get. This is why my firm belief is that trying to bet against the books with the 10% vig or even 5% vig is absolute financial suicide - which is why I quit - but again...the spread is an excellent indicator.

  • 13 or 13.5 is almost as big as they come in the NFL, and it is the first time I've ever seen a 0-1 team favored that heavily over a 1-0 team. Of course the Eagles are better, but again, that's a huge spread; especially considering the health of McNabb. If the Eagles win by 14, the books are in trouble since Philly backers have -12.5 to -13.5, and SF backers bought it to +14.5

    Kuhlman - Marco Rivera?? c'mon now ....

Bledsoe couldn't do ANYTHING with a Bills offense that is much better than the current Cowboys offense. Oh wait ... they do have Peerless Price - scratch that, the boys are gonna win 12

The eagles are most likely looking forward to week 3 already, and that could be a big factor.

The Eagles under Reid do not lose two games in a row. I highly doubt they are looking past the 49ers ... especially with McNabb (McNad for the 12 year old) being listed as questionable.

They certainly don't. Personally I think games like this are crap - you can have SF +13 and they keep it close and Philly returns an INT for a TD late and wins by 14-17 and conversely you can have Philly -13 and they're up 17 and put backups in and SF scores a late TD to only lose by 10. I try to only play games with small spreads for this reason. Like you were saying about PSU last weekend gave up 2 TDs within the final minute to win by only 18 - fortunately I had -17, but a lot of people had -19 to -21

Brian...over at Pinnacle the money line on the Eagles moved from -880 to -832. That's a heckuva string move whereby your "theory" comes into play that the public is "always" wrong. Your theory certainly is right here. The 49ers could play their best game and the Eagles their worst game, and the Eagles would still win this game. It is basically impossible for the Eagles to lose this game.

    A few things.

I don't think many people pony up $850+ to win $100. Pretty much any bet on -800 (or higher) should seem like a lock; otherwise who the heck would risk that much to win so little. Spreads this big only happen a few times a season, and I do recall an underdog of this magnitude winning - week 1 '03, houston was a 14-15 point dog and beat miami straight up by 1 point on opening day. I guess people could parlay the Eagles with other stuff, but I would imagine the money line action is fairly 1-sided as the 9ers offer a big payday. I would also credit the ML moving down since the public has been more informed of McNabb's injury - even though he's playing, he's not 100%

Between reading various message boards, I haven't heard anyone on either side of this game. As far as the public goes, I definitely try to stay on the other side, but it's far from 100% Pinnacle attracts many pros so even if their line is moving that doesn't necessarily reflect the public. Take TCU from last night - pinnacle had TCU +3 before kickoff, but other sites had TCU +4 since the public loves the Utes. TCU won straight-up...
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
I think the Rams could beat Philly and look what SF did to them? Bryant Young is ready to attack, and there was no one like him
on the Falcons. I saw nothing from McNad that lead me to believe he cares anymore. He just doesn't have it. They need to find
a new QB and one soon, or they are going to waste the chance they have on guys like Westbrook.

I'd like to see a long term speed solution at WR, and the QB situation obviously needs addressing. Griese is not the QB of the future.

Not even close to whining - keeping the trash going as is expected.

I'm not worried about the Eagles loss last week or the way the Falcons D kept them to 10 points. Remember the Falcons only scored 14 themselves with a QB who has not lived up to expectations.

My friend I flew 5000 miles last year in two consecutive weeks, stood in the cold, lost my voice from screaming, and spent several thousand dollars in the process. On NFC Championship weekend I was supposed to fly round trip to Philly in one day, then was snowed in and slept on an airport bench with hundreds of other dedicated fans.

It was the best money I ever spent and one of the best times of my life.

This year I split two season tickets with the guy who sold me the 04 playoff seats and will fly to at least two games (Dallas and Washington).

Have I said that the Falcons did not deserve to win? No. Did I blame the loss on injuries (which happens often on this board)? No.

In fact in this thread or another on Tuesday I wrote that McNabb and Reid should realize that a running QB is part of their system or one/both should go.

    Whining my a$$.

he was throwing to a rookie and 2 other guys who should of even been on the field in 2004.

Stalin is having all kinds of his type of "fun" this week because the Bucs are 1 - 0. When his Bucs soon have a losing record and the Eagles have a winning record and are pulling away from the rest of the NFC, he'll crawl back under his bed hugging and kissing his 8 x 10 glossy picture of Warren Sapp and wishing it was the 2002 season again.

Griese played only 11 games last year and threw 12 picks in that time.
