  • Thanks for the clips Knuckles. They were certainly missed last season. Nothing like some great "highlights" to get the adrenaline flowing for a great, and sorely missed, upcoming year of hockey. It will be great to see the cup make a long awaited return to the sports scene...
  • That reminds me of one of the best goals I ever saw. It was a college game, Michigan or Minnesota or one of those teams a few years back. The kid had the puck behind the net, then quickly scooped the puck up on his blade and whipped it around stuffing it in corner of the goal from behind the net. Ring a bell? Or better yet, anybody have a link?...

Who was it that scored the goal?

I remember the goal dgbaseball is talking about.

Both are pretty goals.....practice or not.

Who was the college player? Did he ever make it to the pros?

Great fight clip Knuckles....reminds me of how my twin brother and I used to duke it out playing street hockey. No wonder we are both so ugly now.

  • Thanks Garrett great stuff!

The Bruins had Aaron Downey a couple years ago. He played about 20 or so games and I think he fought in just about every game. The kid is tough as nails.

Eyebone- I sent every clip to my bro. Reminded me of when my two older brothers practiced their checks and fighting skills on me too!

Hallelujah, Mike!! What a find! I searched for an auction with this card in it and couldn't find one. I've got my eye on a couple others though.

You do have a nose for the unusual -- and unusually beautiful!!

How did her NHL career go?? I must plead ignorance.

Sure enjoyed all the hockey clips! Wish I understood French and could hear the play-by-play! Ha!

    Thx for sharing...

  • From what I remember, Rheaume's career didn't last that long in the NHL. I think she was on Tampa's farm team, if I'm correct.

Regarding that Michigan goal, I always wonders why that doesn't happen more. I'm sure most every NHLer is skillful enough to pick the puck up on his blade, and with guys setting up behind the net they are often left alone for the few seconds it would take. Yet no one tries it that I've seen. It's like the old "Air Gait" move in lacrosse where was it either Gary or Paul Gait would stand behind the goal and then run up and jump and stuff the ball into the goal before the goalie can turn around. It's obvious when you see it but no one tries it.

I've seen Gretzky score from behind the net by flipping the puck over the net. It hit the goalie in the back of the head and in it went..

  • Knuckles,

Not to get off the subject but did you happen to catch this auction. Couldn't tell you if it's a good price or not 'cause I don't collect Hockey but I thought it might interest you seein' how you like auto's. image

My stepson's Uncle is Kris Oliwa...one of the more prominent fighters of the NHL. I think he loses just as many as he wins. Im always hoping to see him get his a$$ beat because he's such a dink in person....though I admit I wouldnt initiate an a$$ beating from him LOL

I attended a Devils vs. Leafs game in 1996. Oliwa had come up to join the Devils, and fought Kris King in the first period. Good fight, Oliwa gave King a beating. Later in the game as the two sides lined up for a face-off, Tie Domi and Oliwa were lined up as right wings, so they were on opposite sides. Domi skated to the other side of the circle, said something to Oliwa, and Oliwa instantly switched to the left wing, so now Domi and Oliwa are lined up right next to each other. As I saw this happen, I leaned over to my dad and said they were going to fight. The puck drops, the gloves come off, and they went at it. If memory serves, Domi won the fight, and cut Oliwa bad enough that he had to leave for stitches.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

I remember going after that Rheaume card in a Teletrade auction years ago. I remember I called back so many times to check on the price that I passed my limit of times to call for a price check. Needless to say I lost the card (but got one later on). Ahhh, Manon. My high school years were defined by collecting her material. Talk about a nerd. image
