First ever box break!!

Well, I got my first ever box today from BBCE. Great packaging, didn't worry about packs being tampered with either. It was a 1981 Topps cello. Only paid $75. It was a lot of fun breaking open the packs. I was hoping for some help in completing my set of highly graded all stars. It didn't really pan out that well. I forgot how poor the centering was on this set. The highlight was a Mike Schmidt that has an outside shot at a 10.

Here are some of the other cards of note:
2 Rickey Henderson's (probably 7 or 8)
2 Nolan Ryan's (probably 7 or 8)
Mike Schmidt (definitely a 9, maybe a 10)
2 Steve Stone's (7-8 range)
2 Rod Carew's (7-8 range)
Steve Carlton (8)
Goose Gossage (7)

If anyone is looking for any commons from this set, I'll check and see if I have them and send them out.

Not bad. Is there a card #632 Bannister?

If so, and if it's beat up, could you consider mailing it to me. I'll pay for the mailing and stuff. I don't care what shape it's in. I only want it for the back.

    thanx

  • I'll check when I get home and see if I have Bannister. I'll let you know.
  • Mike, I checked and I did have a #632 Bannister in my box. Just send me your information to BMOC345@aol.com and I'll mail it out to you. I don't need a SASE or anything. It is just a common and I have plenty of stamps!

If you have any of the following that have a shot at PSA 9 - I would be interested:

    #160 Garry Maddox
    #317 Lonnie Smith
    #526 Phillies Rookies
    #566 Del Unser
    #719 Sparky Lyle

Good stuff. The Schmidt is a bear to find in PSA 10. If yours becomes a 10 - you did AWESOME.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • Marc,

I did get all of those cards you listed, including some doubles. But, like 90% of the cards, they are to OC to have a shot at a 9. Heck, a fair number of the 81's are bordering on actually being miscut.

I did get a #206 Schimdt record breaker that has a shot at a 9. Actually the #206 Schimdt and the #540 Schmidt are probably the two best centered cards in the whole box

congrats on the schmidt and good luck if you get it graded.

  • LD, No Bench's, but a couple of Nolan Ryan's. The Ryan are centered probably 70-30 at best so I doubt I'll get them graded.
