Keith - Steve? What are these?

Oval movie stars; embossed border, bit of gloss to the front, backs are blank. Hand tinted actresses from the '20s. Size is roughly 2.25" high. I'm guessing Carreras, but I don't know for sure. I picked up 10 different for hardly anything at all - I don't think anybody knew what they were. I still don't - but I likes 'em:

Sometimes the little unknown ones are just as fun as any others.
many embossed cards come from germany though. are these embossed?

These are embossed, but not along the lines of the Garbaty issues. The embossed portion is only along the oval border, which is slightly raised above the level of the picture, giving the card a "framed" appearance. They definitely appear to be English, but I can't really place them due to the lack of any kind of identifying markings.

Mark, nice cards. I can't identify them but have seen a few for sale from English dealers from time to time. A lot of British sets go for next to nothing. I purchased a complete Rhodesian Series set of 25 cards of real pictures from the 1930s and the shipping cost me more than the cards.
