1978 Holsum Football Set

Anybody collect these? I know some player collectors get excited about some of the cards, but other than that is there any market for them? The local card shop has a complete set in but the price was around $175 before my "friendly discount". (Which isn't much) I'm just wondering if it's worth picking up, or if it's worth picking up if a few conditions are met...

Aside from keeping a couple of the cards, the rest I would most likely resell since I have to take the whole set... Any thoughts?

IT's a tough set, but $175 is ridiculous for a regional set that only a handful of people really collect. I collect regionals, but don't want them that badly.

I was under the impression the set booked a fair amount higher than that... I couldn't find it listed anywhere in the SMR and the online beckett thing only gives me one card at a time.

    $175 seems way too high.

I'm looking for a complete NM/MT or better Vikings Holsum set. They are few and far between on ebay...

    Enjoy your collection!

I was in the shop today and I was wrong...They're asking $199 for it. Most cards are no better than NM anyway. I did do quite a bit of trading wit them though, but didn't pick that up.

Thanks again for the advice, and saving me some dough.
  • I bought a set (both Vikings and Packers) a while ago on Ebay. I don't remember exactly what I paid but it was definitely under $50. The cards were in very nice shape but a lot of them were badly centered. I graded a few. The Alan Page came back a 9. I actually only bought the set because it was advertised as a 1977 Wonder Bread set. I love the 74 & 75 WB sets and never knew there was a 77. Obviously, there wasn't.

Looking for well centered 1958 topps baseball psa 8 and up. Also dying for a 70 Aaron All Star in PSA 9.

    That's always a bummer...

I ended up picking up some 80's wax from BBCE with the money I saved.

    1 x 1984 Fleer Baseball Unopened Cello Box $75.00
    1 x 1983 Topps Baseball Unopened Vending Box $50.00
    1 x 1984 Topps Baseball Unopened Vending Box $20.00
    1 x 1987 Donruss Baseball Unopened Wax Box $32.00
    1 x 1981 Topps Baseball Unopened Cello Box $75.00

Figured it would be fun to rip this stuff and nicely centered, high grade examples still get a decent return so what the heck.
