A couple of impulse buys (one *almost* holey)

Was bored tonight, so spent some time browsing the new additions in the Darkside categories on Fleabay. Snagged these two for giggles and grins. $25 each, so no bigbux involved. Almost all of the other coins from the same seller seemed way overpriced... or maybe I got taken. image

  1. Essequibo & Demerary. One Stiver 1813. I have a few of these, but you usually only find them in VF at best. This one definitely seems to have XF details; could use some help on the obverse. PVC? I'll have to see if Blue Ribbon can help it... Either a die crack or a dig between the 1 and 3 of the date.

  2. Saxony. 1 Thaler. 1871B. This is easily my favorite of the two. Nice XF/AU details. Mintage of only 45,000. Even the jewelry mount doesn't detract from it. I like the reverse design too!

    That Saxony piece is quite impressive. With that awesome reverse design, it's small wonder somebody decided to mount it and wear it.
