Upper Deck redemption help....

I've got a couple of redemption cards and never been through the process before.

I already have an Upper Deck account.

Is it as simple as it looks? Just scratch off the code and enter it? Any idea how long it may be before I actually see the cards.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Shawn.

    Yes, it is that easy.

This summer I did my first Upper Deck redemption using the online option.

It took about 7 weeks to get my package from them--and they did not send me the card I redeemed for--they instead sent two replacements. I realized the cards they sent had a higher book/market value then what I expected to receive--but I was still disappointed that they did not at least contact me by email first to possibly give me a "heads up" and maybe let me have some choice in what the replacements would be.

My grade for the process: C-
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

    Thanks for the help.

Sounds to me like I'll forget about the cards by the time they get here. It'll seem like a nice surprise by then.

  • I had to drive TO Fed Ex to retrieve my Sosa autograph. Go figure.

It's a decent system - sometimes your card ships right away, other times it takes months. As mentioned, they ship the higher value cards FedEx, which is a good idea, but they shipped a Kirilenko auto to me in a plain white letter envelope (and, it got ripped halfway open by time it hit my mailbox - I guess there were no Kirilenko fans at the PO).

If you don't mind me asking which cards are they?? UD has been very generious with redemption substitutions. Maybe I can tell
    you something.

Sorry to say the redemptions aren't anything spectacular. One is a Jim Plunkett auto I pulled from a pack of 05 NFL Legends. Knowing I was going through the process of redeeming a card, I bought the next one a couple of days later on ebay, a 05 NFL Legends Chris Collinsworth auto.

As you know Kevin, I pretty much only root for my hometown teams. So the squirrelly little Collinsworth was always a favorite of mine growing up. He was playing before the Colts came to Indy, so the Bengals were my team at the time. I picked it up cheap. Hopefully I'll see them both in my mailbox before 2007, as duner suggested. OUCH!

  • The only problem I've ever had with an Upper Deck redemption is they sent me an empty envelope once. A quick call to customer service and that problem was resolved. Other than that, I've received all my redemptions within 6-8 wekks of submitting them. BTW, it is that easy. image
