St. Louis Card Shops

Hello, everyone! I'm a longtime lurker who felt the need to start chiming in. I'm 29, but collect vintage mostly because I'm fed up with most of the shiny cards produced today. I've been watching these boards since '05 Heritage came out (I didn't know the boards existed before then). I got some great help in completing my master set here. As a matter of fact, I have every Heritage set, Bowman and Topps, that they've made in EVERY sport, in master set form excluding auto's and patches. Gotta love that 2000-01 Hockey Heritage and 2001 Football Heritage! But right now, I'm fininshing up a low grade 1958 Baseball set, 1969-1972, and 1975 mini Baseball sets, a low grade 1955 All American football set, a 1971-72 OPC Hockey set, and a 1971-72 Topps Basketball set.

As for the topic of my thread, I'm going to St. Louis this weekend (I'm from the Tulsa, OK area). I'm looking for a few good card stores that would carry cards for the sets I mentioned above in various conditions while on my vacation. Gas prices may cut into my desired condition too by then! Any help would be appreciated and thanks!

  • Thanks,
I already did a online yellow pages search, I just didn't want to call all of them if anyone had any first hand knowledge.
  • Rare Coin Gallery in Florissant used to have some vintage cards. I have not been there in a couple of years.

don't want to bust your bubble, but the card shops in st. louis are vanishing rapidly. i live here and there is very little graded stuff, the rest is overpriced and beat-up. i hope you have good luck but don't hold your breath. if you do i would like to know where the stores are.

I'll second that. I've probably spent less than $25 in the last three years at local card shops. And that was almost all on supplies.

  • What about Southtown Sluggers Cards? I talked with David earlier and he seemed reasonable. The other one that I've talked to is Sports Card Dugout. He seemed to maybe have half of what I wanted.

i would give those stores a call before you waste your time and miles. if you want 2004 albert pujols cards you'll be in luck, but vintage material is in short supply. i would say it would be hit or miss. as we know old stuff just doesn't have the new demand or the turnover ability of new JUNK. if you were planning a trip here anyway i would say it would be alright to hit a few stores. if you want to make a special trip i would say save your money and overpay on e-bay.

in addition the stores mentioned are all over the area. it could take you 30-45 minutes to go from one place to another. find out there hours too. i don't want to be a pessimist, only a realist.

I've been to both of those and they are nice guys and have some vintage. You might also try 1,000,000 Baseball Cards out west. The dugout had lots of common cards to fill my 70s sets. The selection at All Star Sportscards for vintage FB/Bsk was awful last I was there.
