I see what you mean... the card looks mint except for the top border, it looks chipped and smudged(?) even... I'd pass on this particular example if I needed one, but the centering is attractive as I think you'll have to admit. I just love the looks of those '56's...
I think that is a roller mark (defect) from the "printer" centering is good though good point. I like the plain solid background of the 55's as opposed to the cluttered background of the 56's. Call me crazy, believe me you wouldn't be the first!
I am a big fan of PSA.,...but I strongly disagree with what seems to be a policy of ignoring these kind of defects. I saw a Molitor rookie that had a bad smudge grade an "8" and a Mantle with a bad print dot on the top border also graded pretty high. Why not then ignore the defect on badly out of focus cards? I really think PSA is wrong on this one. As everyone says, "buy the card, not the holder"!

I have to agree, that thing is a rock star, but that stain/smudge or whatever it is would be too much to overlook IMO. Color, corners and centering are fantastic though.
