USC dominates again...
"And of course, Southern California is still No. 1.
USC has been No. 1 for 20 straight polls dating back to late in the 2003 season, leaving the Trojans one short of the record set by Miami from 2001-2002. USC received 61 of 65 first-place votes in the poll released Tuesday. No. 2 Texas got the other four first-place votes."
A lot of people who know a heck of a lot more about college football than the two resident Noles clowns (lou, stalin) know that USC is truly the best team in the land. They know football a lot more than you 2 morons.
FSU doesn't even break the top 10....and they won't anytime soon.

Though there are some I am sure who disagree, I bet if the team they root for were ranked #1, they'd want them to remain so until losing.
I somewhat agree with you. Lest everyone forgets, USC was the odd man out in 2003, when LSU and OU played for the title while USC was stuck on the outside looking in (OU had no business being in that game after getting donkey stomped 35-7 in the Big 12 Championship game, but whatever). I actually thought USC had a "right" to be number one the entire year last year. And it seems voters agreed, since a lot of USC's votes were sympathy votes.
But this is 2005. If UT were to run the table, they would have to go through, OSU, OU (which has been the proverbial thorn in their side the last 5 years), Texas Tech (who is ranked), and A&M (at Kyle, a tough place to play), not to mention the Big 12 title game. Do you not think they deserve some number 1 consideration based on that? Not that it matters, since Texas seems to be entrenched in the #2 spot until they lose, and regardless they would be playing USC at the end of the season. But it's an interesting argument - rankings should be based on the current season, not previous season.
I don't think a team should necessarily be penalized for playing in a conference that doesn't receive a lot of national attention. There is a ton of bias that goes towards teams on the east coast to the midwest, because those voters stay up late enough to watch them, but are usually in bed by the time the west coast games are being played. Example, how did Cal get jobbed of a BCS bowl game last year? It cost their program millions in bowl money. That to me spoke volumes about the skewed view the voters have of the west coast.
If both Texas and USC go undefeated this year, you'll see them in the national title game...and then we can go from there. I just find it hard to not vote for the current #1 team if they don't lose.
The Buckeyes handed their asses to them for the final regular season game last year and then spanked OSU in their bowl game equally as bad.
Tennessee is ranked in the top 5 after scraping by this past week?
<< <i>It's part of what makes the preseason polls so infurating. However, they prove to be a good jumping off point.

Maybe the voters did actually know something. Cal got thumped by a mediocre Texas Tech in their Bowl game. Maybe the weak Pac-10 deterred a lot of voters from rating a team with one loss from that conference very high. They didn't get jobbed before their bowl game, they only got jobbed in their bowl game...
I'm still trying to figure out how Michigan is ranked higher than the Buckeyes?

It likely has something to do with the fact OSU lost to Northwestern (LOL), Iowa & Purdue which were all teams Michigan beat. Also, Ohio St may have beaten 4 time-loser Oklahoma State in their bowl game, but Michigan lost by a point to Texas who only had a single loss last year and is rated number 2 this year.
<< <i>of course Texas should jump USC....but the media is all on USC's jock because they score points and look good against the community colleges they play. They want no part of A team like Miami or FSU. >>
Jealous much?
You think that YOU know more than all the voters who do this for a living?
Community colleges? What division is next week's opponent for the Noles? hahahahaha talk about community colleges!
It's a balance between what you have already proven & expectations based on talent (preseason polls), and what you do this season. I put more emphasis on the latter. If Texas wins, they will have proven in two weeks that they can blowout a cupcake (as did USC), but also beat a top 5 team in a very hostile place – USC will not have proven that (I hope that didn’t set off alarms as that is not USC bashing).
Interesting that 56% of people on ESPN's poll of roughly 40,000 votes believe TCU should be ranked higher than Oklahoma. Oklahoma went into that game ranked 7th, TCU 66th; and after a 17-10 TCU win, the majority of people believe TCU should be higher.
maybe a score more. 17 sounds about right...but you would call that a good win...17-0... or 17-7...
take off the homer glassess....
as for citadel being a CC...ok? We play one this whole season...I can name atleast FIVE USC plays...want me to?
Bunch of sissys
