1928 Babe Ruth Fro-joy Uncut Sheet

I sometimes get disappointed when someone puts something up for auction and I'm pretty sure they know better. This is item #991 at the Coach's Corner:

These were reprinted in the 60s and also in the 70s, I believe. And were done in color to insure that people would know they were intended not to be mistaken for the orginals.

The Standard Catalog makes a recommendation that if the sheet doesn't come with the accompanying "premium" card of Ruth - stay away. Plus there are some sepia reprints floating around also.

Here's a legit set:

I wish it were larger - I have seen some really nice graded individual cards.

I know this isn't anything you have not seen before. I just thought I'ld bring it up again as a "refresher" since the rant is really about Coach's Corner whom I think is starting to "slip" in quality with the addition of Pro and Gem cards to their arsenal!

Finally, I did get an email today from Coach's about the item and they were going to review my query. I will be disappointed if it isn't pulled.

Anyone ever buy one of these thinking it was the real deal? I was tempted till I did some research when I first started buying on ebay.

  • It would be REALLY disappointing if it only said "Babe Ruth Fro-Joy sheet" without mentioning its a reprint...

The description does not say "reprint." That's why I emailed them.

You can pick up reprints for a couple of bucks.
