Enos Slaughter info needed

Hello,
I am looking for information from any Enos Slaughter Collector's. I'm trying to find out about the Martinsville, VA Redbirds who he played for in 1936 in believe. The reason i want to know about this year and this team is that is the first year my grandfather Steve Gerkin was in professional Baseball. I have not had any luck finding anything on this team on the web, other than Slaughter playing there. Any help, info, leads would be great.
Thanks,
Jason

  • If its the same Steve Gerkin he was MVP of the American Association in 1947 with Minneapolis. Best thing to do is get an old Spaldings book which were issued every year and had just about every minor league team that played in them from Class D to AAA..........

Have you tried SABR? No better place for baseball research.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • Baseball Fan.
Yes it is the same Steve Gerkin that was the 47 AA Mvp. These Spaldings Books Are they a year behind. IE A 1937 Splading Book Has 1936 stats in it? Where is the best place to find one?

    Griffins,
    What is SABR?

    Thanks,
    Jason
