1979-S Proof and 1981-S Proof coins. What is the difference between Type1 and Type2 and what really matters in the sell or purchase of these?

    The Mint Marks on The type 2 on both coins.
    PCGS sets under The Thomas Collections. Modern Commemoratives @ NGC under "One Coin at a Time". USMC Active 1966 thru 1970" The real War.

    Type one's have "filled" MM; type two's have "clear" MM. Type two's are generally much more scarce. Especially the 81-S type two cent and Dollar in higher grades.
