1700 Britannia Farthing - Pic and questions

Here is a picture of a Farthing dated 1700 that I picked up at a coin show a while back. I picked it up because MrsSpud has a collection of various modern Britannia coins and I thought am older one would fit in well. It isn't in the best of condition, but not overly bad for a coin that is as old as it is. The coin is in a 2X2 with the cryptic writings saying KM-483.1 and SI-SC-IYI. Does anybody know what this means? Also, does anyone have a picture of this type of coin in better condition. Thanks, in advance, for any replies and thanks for looking image

  • The KM-483.1 is the number listed to identify the coin in the Krause catalogue of World coins. Not sure what the second set of letters denotes.

The second set of numbers must be a dealer's code. Aside from the black spot on the obverse, that is a nicer-than-average circulated example, believe it or not. All too often they are wretched looking and have the dates off the flan.

Thanks. I'm going to have to get one of those Krause Books. It is nice to know that this one is a half decent example too. The dark spot is'nt nearly as visible in hand. I had to brighten up the picture with my photo software a bit to get the details to show up.
