I went to the coin shop today and watched as the owner took this out of an envelope that he got with a bunch of other stuff. Why is it that this always happens to common coins? ![image](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/expressions/funny.gif)

I got a nice toner in a bulk lot not too long ago.
It was a 1960's Brit 6d. Probably not worth much more than the flip I put it in.
But it sure was purty.
Best wishes,

To me, not at all. I'm a big fan of common dates because there is much more choice in beautiful high grade type coins and they're always in high demand. You can get stuck pretty bad with an ultraexpensive key date at resale time.
