Emmitt Smith auto value?

I picked up a 2000 score Emmitt Smith 1990 score supplemental buy back autograph at my local card shop today, solely for the purpose of reselling and trying to turn a profit. Card is numbered 33/50 and is number TM04 in the set. Card has a Beckett book value of $300.

I've been searching eBay for awhile now and haven't seen any come up for sale. I wondered if anyone had an opinion of what this card might ACTUALLY bring if I was to put it up for auction. Anyone know any history behind this card? Are all 50 examples auto'd?

I'm trying to attach a scan. Thanks for any help.

Shawn.

I think it's a nice card. Here's my question: is he hot? If the answer is yes, it will bring a nice sum. If not?
Then unless there's two Emmitt fans that want it....well you know what I mean.

What would you like to see the card go for?

    Mike,

    Thanks for the scan.

To answer your question..is he hot? Well not really. Are you implying I should wait until he's inducted into the Hall to sell? Surely HOF auto's are a hot commodity, and he'll obviously soon be one.

Like I said in my initial post, Beckett high BV is $300 (for whatever that's worth). I see quite a few Emmitt autos sell on ebay in the $200+ range, but I've never seen this card up for sale. I would like to think on a good day I could get at least $175. Any chance?

Emmitt's the all-time rushing leader and a Cowboy, I guess he'll always be "somewhat" hot. But I'm not a fan and bought this just to resell, I think I got a good buy on it. Just didn't know if anyone on the board here knew of any past results for this card.

  • If it was graded it might bring $200+ on a good day. all 50 are auto'd and they're all copies of the players' rookie cards. I bought the edgerrin james one for $125, but i've also seen the marshall faulk and the marvin harrison sell for for less than $100.

I think it's going to depend on whether that card is on someone's "wantlist" - this one went for almost
    $200.

I saw quite a few issues sell higher - I'm not familiar with these FB sets with respect to Smith autos.

But, there does seem to be activity. From my experience, people do their "wild" buying way before the induction - by that time the cards are on their way down typically - we'll call it an "adjustment" period?

    Thanks Stone.

There's obviously a market for Smith auto's. I've never seen the card I bought sell but here's an example:

  • I've been working on completing the topps 50th set w/ autos and I believe the Emmitt auto in that set closed right around the 250-275 range in the last month or so, I'd say over 200 is a pretty safe bet with any luck at all.
Collecting: Pretty much anything and everything, but raw '62s, Ripken and anything from my boys in Steeltown take top priority.

Funny you should link to that one. I sold that card to this seller about a month ago for $250. By the time he pays ebay and paypal fees he won't have made much, but a few bucks is a few bucks I suppose. By the way, that is one of the nicest looking Emmitt autos I've ever seen, I really hated parting with that card. As for yours, that one should get you over $200. Emmitt autos are always desirable.

Not trying to spam my own eBay auctions, but I got this one up for sale last night.

I was going to wait and run Sunday to Sunday but the thread yesterday about when to end auctions yesterday had a couple of people who recommended Wednesday nights.

Anyway, if any of you were curious to how this might end up for future reference, thought I would post, as well as say thanks again for the help and advice.
