What does 2/3 of an inning get you?

AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
If you're Al Leiter, you give up 5 hits and 6 runs, and you watch your ERA balloon to 5.33.

There's a reason this guy was a castoff...and yankee fans who thought he was going to be their savior? Hillarious.

    Wow - and Spammy is?

    Nowhere to be found!

It can't get much worse, can it? Both Yankee "saviors" Leiter and Chacon are fading fast...not that anyone thought it wouldn't happen.

I saw a Royals vs. Rangers game in Arlington, TX numerous years ago. 1/3 inning got Nolan Ryan five runs and his only out was a K - Bo Jackson. That was the only time I saw either one of them play in person. At least I was there.

The Battleship Yankees has taken on too much water, and is bound to start sinking fast. Cashman has got to be the worst GM in MLB. How do you spend over $200 million on payroll, and then have to pick up rejects and bums to fill out your roster?? I just found out recently that they have that bum Mendoza, who was probably the least deserving of a Red Sox WS ring.

Exactly - but, on the NY sports radio shows, a lot of callers won't blame him. They blame Steinbrenner for wanting to spend big money on over the hill players (Brown, Johnson). I think the Pavano and Wright signings are Cashman's doing, along with the fact that they had to field a team with Tony Womack as a starter, and no second baseman to speak of. It has to be eating George up to watch those discarded starters like Leiter, Chacon, and whomever go out there night after night carrying the slim playoff hopes for a team that outspent the league by an unprecedented margin.

  • I agree, Cashman has to be doing a better job. Quickly, off of the top of your head is there a guy having an Adrian Beltre year this year(well established as sucking, then having one big lucky year, then making multi-millions off a stupid GM), because he will probably end up on the Yanks next year.

Kind of hard to blame the Johnson move, even though he is old, he showed zero signs of slowing down last year and was at least worth a shot. Pavano's writing was on the wall.

As for Tony WOmack, the Yanks leadership, like many other ill-informed fans/executives/players/writers, don't understand what constitutes a good player. They always look at the wrong things to formulate their decisions, TIME AND TIME AND TIME AGAIN!!

Remember, having the ability to thwo 95 MPH doesn't give you the ability to analyze what is really at work, like so many playrs think it does. It just amazes me on the things I hear, and see being done by owners, managers, players, and fans. I type this shaking my head.

By the way, what is Beltre doing this year? Go figure, he is on pace for nearly the exact numbers of the three years preceeding 2004's fluke season.

I love the stupid fan, as I've taken many a dollar off of him. Even though I am retiring from that sort of stuff, it has been fun. I still laugh at the people who loved Rick Helling because he was a 'winner' when he won twenty games with crappy numbers. "Boy, he just knew how to win"...ONE OF THE BIGGEST BUNCHES OF POOH EVERY UTTERED! Same crap was said about Derek Jeter(who is actually great), but people got this notion that he was much better than what was objectively measured because he "knew how to win" Well, he must have forgotten the last few years. And he probably won't remember again until his team has a top three pitching staff like they did in the years he did 'know how to win'.

Enter Tom Brady, the new 'WINNER' in the sports world. Yeah, he is an excellent QB, but this notion that he has some sort of mystical intangible to win, that guys like Manning etc...will never find. I wonder if he will remember how to 'win' when his defense starts to rank in the teens?? My prediction is that he will probably be like all the other QB's in the history of the NFL, he won't win a Super Bowl with a team ranked 16th in defense. But if he knew how to win, that shouldn't stop him, because he just knows how to do it. A BIG PILE OF POOH IF I EVER HEARD ONE!!! Same crap of Troy Aikman! I geuss he forgot when he didn't have all the hall of fame teammates anymore.

Boy, Joe Montana sure knew how to win, too bad he didn't take that knowledge to KC with him, they are starving over there! Brettt Favre, the ultimate gamer, the winner!! He just knows how to get it done! Where has he been in the playoffs lately? Did he forget how to win, or does he miss Reggie White and company? Isn't it readily appearant??? Then why do we always hear this crap??

My all time favorite?? LIvan Hernandez. I listend to Tim McCarver jerk off over him during the WS with the Giants, lamenting on his big gameness, then I just watched him get torched for two straight games. Boy Tim, realy good idea to base your analysis on a sample size of five starts. Next April in MLB, just watch some of those mediocore pitchers who go 5-0 with great ERA's in APril, then trade Johan Santana for them because his ERA is 4.20 on APril 30th.

Rolling on the Floor Laughing Out Loud.

How dare you make fun of Leiter and Chacon!!!! image Chacon has a great ERA (3.08) as a Yankee with his 4-2 record. He out pitched Barry Zito soundly yesterday. You make fun of Leiter with his 5.33 ERA yet Curt Baby has an ERA of 6.96. Schilling is hurting your team BIG TIME. Surely you remember Mr. Leiter mowing down the Red Sox on Sunday, July 17th to get his first win as a Yankee, don't you?

You gotta love that revisionist history! Forget his record before joining the yankees...it doesn't exist (just like the yankees MELTING down and losing 4 games in a row last year).

How sad is it that Chacon and Leiter have to be the ones who come in to pitch for a team with more in payroll for their pitching staff ($85 million) than most TEAMS, yet they still STINK!
  • It must be driving you crazy that the Yankees are going to go to the playoffs probably as a Division Winner.

No it's driving me nuts you don't get the hint that no one wants you here.

It's driving me nuts that you don't get it, Spammy - the yankees have outspent EVERYONE, most by double. THEY SHOULD WIN THE ^*&$*(% DIVISION! And yet you are proud they are scratching and clawing their way to the top?

    PATHETIC.

That is not what your poll said. I think they enjoy you making an idiot out of yourself.

How sad is it you were 'gone' all weekend and you're back home, and instead of spending time with your wife you're here posting?

  • << How sad is it you were 'gone' all weekend and you're back home, and instead of spending time with your wife you're here posting?>>

LOL, coming from a guy who has probably been celibate for the last 50 years. Axthole, who do you think I was spending time with all weekend? A man needs a break sometime. And why the hell is it your business anyway. Stick to sports talk.

P.S. Axthole - I have come up with a better nickname for Axtell than Axtey. This new one fits like a glove.

What 2 days with your wife was too much? Probably too much for her and she told you to get the hell out and get to the basement to earn your '$80+ / hour' right?

Oooh did I hurt spammy's feelings? Poor poor baby! You say 'stick to sports talk' yet try to insult my social life? Pot, meet kettle!

Oh Axthole, you didn't 'come up' with that, your boyfriend WP has used that weak misnomer for a while now. Quit trying to take credit for someone else's work.

Good to know you spend time there sitting and thinking up such original nicknames for me. I am sure you spent your labor day weekend instead of paying attention to your wife thinking up nicknames for me.

There is a pattern here. Axthole keeps fantasizing what I do with my wife.
