I thought somebody might say that. There was a story on the news where I live about a guy who got a 1804 dollar from a friend when he retired from his job and he thought it was real.image

If she's not a coin collector she'll have a hard time distingushing good counterfeits from poor counterfeits. If you can get good counterfeits of trade dollars, they're worth about $15 each. The poor cast counterfeits aren't even worth $5.

Sadly, an all-too-common tale. Happens every freakin' day.

People's Republic of China. I meant that there is some nice modern Chinese coinage.
  • Ask her to purchase the silver and/or gold pandas.
There is a version that is sold locally. See if she can get those, I think they have a "p" on them.

Are there pictures I can send her in the krause catalog?

" Have her bring back a Terracotta Soldier in her luggage."

Actually, they sell small replica sets of some of the terracotta soldiers. I would ask her to try to get a set if she visits the area (they're not expensive).

  • I do believe that there are pictures in Krause.
You can make a copy and send it to her, just let her know that the panda's that she is looking for have either a small d or p on the front.
Those are for local sale, the panda's that are for overseas sales do not have the initial.
I found a very reliable coin dealer in Hong Kong that had them, I do apologize, I have no idea of his name or address.
    Good luck
  • Thanks! image
