1839 English medal by B. Wyon . Silvered bronze. Uniface with the obverse depicting tropical plants ; the reverse is blank. 51 mm. Appears to have been the Top of something with a single pin hinge at the top. Snuff box come to mind but this does not appear to be a cover of a sealed item.

Obv: Full figure of Champlain. Crowned H. IV and E. VII. 1608 and 1908 on ribbon with dolphins on each side. Below: STADACONE; IIIe CENTENAIRE. DE. LA. FONDATION. DE. QVEBEC. Rev: Females seated with French and English arms. Inscription on ribbon on a large tree: DIEU. AIDANT. L'OEUVRE. DE. CHAMPLAIN. NÉE. SOUS. LES. LYS. A. GRANDI. SOUS. LES. ROSES. Bronze (stamped on edge with cornucopia). Lion on the shield. 76mm. By Henri Dubois

This one is very interesting. A British medal, but it portrays obviously tropical plants. Something to do with India, perhaps? Another colony?
